One of the quickest ways to increase brainpower is to use the power of expectation. Think you are smarter and you will be smarter - at least if you do this in the right way. This isn’t about wishful thinking, but about using the reticular cortex, that part of the brain which determines what is brought to our conscious attention. This is the same part that makes you see more red cars once you start looking for them.

To use it, just choose to watch for examples of how well your brain works. Note when you have a creative or insightful thought. Consciously directing attention to these things gets the reticular cortex working for you finding more examples of your brainpower. The expectation that results causes you to start “proving” the efficacy of your own brain, which means you start actually trying (and likely succeeding) to use it in better ways.
