Most free diet programs inform their readers the importance of cutting alcohol or at least reducing alcohol from their diets.  Alcohol promotes fat gain, no matter what you drink.  Wine, liquor, beer, lite beer, and champagne all promote fat gain.  Some may be worse than others but the bottom line is that all alcohol products contain the things that you want to avoid when trying to lose weight.  First of all, all alcohol products are high in calories.  Secondly, alcohol products (especially beer) are high in carbs.  These two nutirents are thing needed to be cut from your diet if you want to lose weight successfully.
