Thank goodness for shotgun sequencing! As you may or not be aware (unless you watched the film Jurassic Park) the human genome is extremely, extremely long. This means the info we need for extraction will clog up a computer faster then you can think. This is where Genome Shotgun Sequencing comes into play. Instead of taking the strand as one very long message shot gunning breaks it up into random but small pieces. Making it possible to analyze much more easily. But people are always thinking, and we are always getting smarter then our ancestors so maybe a few years from now someone will find an even better way.
