Hiring and retaining a world-class workforce begins with the recruitment process. Human resources professionals are charged with locating the best talent in the industry. Therefore, it is best to have a clear plan for accomplishing this goal.
Once it is determined that a new or replacement position is to be filled, meet with the hiring manager, a worker in the department, and HR leader, and if one is used, a recruiter. Determine and prioritize the key job requirements to construct a job description. The job description will serve as a guide for writing the employment ad and screening resumes. Once candidates are selected, conduct interviews with the hiring manager, his or her supervisor, and if possible, a potential coworker.
