The use of electronic signatures or e signatures is promoted by the government. This means that using e signatures in your business transactions is valid and legal. You don’t have to worry about the legality of such documents signed digitally.

One of the reasons why some people are afraid to use e signatures could be the fact that they are worried about its legal repercussions. There is enough information to back up the legality of this innovation.

For one, there is the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act signed by President Bill Clinton in 2000 that authorized and legalized the use of e signatures.  Then there is the Electronic Signatures and Records Act that solidifies the validity of e signatures as something that is as legally-binding as a handwritten signature.

This also strengthens the authority of the government to create and maintain records that are in electronic forms. This could then make e signatures and other online documents as powerful in terms of legal force as paper documents.

This is a great innovation to be used especially during these times when the Internet is being utilized by millions of people. What better way to conduct business than using e signatures?
