Applications of Air Compressor
Basically, there are five major applications where air compressor is indispensible; for filling the gas cylinders with high-pressure clean air and moderate-pressure air for submerged surface supplied divers. It is also essential in the cases of filling tires and power pneumatic tools apart from providing air for the needs of macroscopic industrial processes, namely, oxidation for cement plant or petroleum coking, etc. With so many applications to its credit, air compressor has become an integral part of both domestic and industrial applications. Most of the air compressors are rotary vane, reciprocating piston type, or rotary screw type. For larger applications, centrifugal compressors are commonly employed.
