Bali Event Photography
Event photography has challenging characteristic, within very short moments we have to capture pictures at its best. Photographer does not have a way to control the object, and in most of the cases his chance to control himself - means getting perfect position - is also quite limited. Available lighting is all you get.
Flash may help in short distance and narrow angle, but definitely useless in opposite case. Being one of the largest cultural event in Bali, the cremation ceremony of the deceased leader of Ubud monarch has been long awaited. Involvement of professional public relation and extensive promotion effort along the country’s Visit Indonesia Year 2008 campaign invited even more interests.
Together with a few fellow Bali photographer I spent the day to take picture of the event. Thousands of crowd was the main challenge for getting stunning pictures. I myself have another personal challenge and excitement at the same time. The new Canon 5D full frame DSLR which I just got a few days back as a replacement to my old Nikon D200 require quite a while to get familiarized.
