Capital gains tax payable on investments
I did some quick calculations today and to my disappointment there will be a lot of capital gains tax payable when I sell a two investments that I was planning on selling. There are a couple of managed investments that I have held for as long as I can remember, with distributions being reinvested. I have been quite please with the returns and growth, but I hadn’t accounted for the government wanting it’s piece of the pie. It can’t be helped I guess, but it is making me reconsider whether I will sell now or leave the managed investments as they are. I was planning to reinvest the amount again somewhere else, and after capital gains tax has been deducted I will have a lot less to invest.
